On Sept. 26, 2017, Syncfusion held a webinar on our Xamarin controls, presented by Product Specialist Aaron Melamed and moderated by Marissa Keller Outten, director of business management. Thank you to everyone who attended “Jump into Enterprise Mobile Development with Xamarin.” We hope you found it helpful. If you missed it, you can view the recording of the webinar here. Following is the Q&A portion of the webinar.
Q: Maybe Syncfusion should offer something like Xamarin University. Is there an area with some kind of training on this suite?
A: We have documentation and class references for all our controls. We do also have plans for video tutorials.
Q: Do you support development on Linux, also?
A: Currently, we have support for iOS, Android, and UWP in Xamarin. However, we will extend support to Linux in the future.
Q: Do you provide a Gremlin-based (graph data) control?
A: No. We will take a look at it.
Q: Can you remove the time component in the calendar/scheduler events?
A: Yes, you can customize the time formats of events.
Q: Can you make the cell appear as a card in the grid?
A: You can use our list view for this purpose, which has grid layout support
Q: Will you share the code of this project?
A: This is our sample browser, which will be shipped as part of our Xamarin setup installation.
Q: Is it possible to modify all your components to fit our projects? For example, can you add a button to a kanban card?
A: Yes, all components are customizable. You can customize the kanban card with your own custom templates.
Q: What is the customization level of all your components?
A: All our components are customizable to fit application needs. Check out our samples in the Play Store and App Store.
Q: Can grid and list view implement the reuse of cells in a case of many rows?
A: Yes, grid and list view reuse the cells and rows.
Q: Any plans for launching a rich text/HTML editor?
A: We do have plans, but not for the immediate future.
Q: Are there any plans for making a tree view-like collapsible data grid?
A: Yes. We do have plans to develop tree view in the near future.
Q: If you need platforms and components for your own use and not for your work, then are you Community License eligible?
A: The Community License is limited in many ways. For example, you do not get our enterprise solutions, which are our Big Data, Data Integration, Dashboard, and Report Platforms. Plus, you do not get the source code. If those aren’t part of what you need, then you/your company must have fewer than five developers and earn less than $1 million a year to be eligible for the Community License.
Q: Any plans to introduce 3-D graphing capabilities? Like 3-D surfaces, for example?
A: Yes. We do have plans for adding 3-D views for 2-D charts.
Q: Do you have Xamarin.Forms for Mac support?
A: Currently, we support iOS, Android, and UWP in Xamarin. We have plans for supporting Mac in future.
