While many children across the country are rejoicing as the school year ends, many are left stranded as their school-supplied meals also end. For some low-income children, the free breakfasts and lunches provided at school are the only meals they can rely on.
The Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina has set out to ensure these meals continue when school is out with their Kids Summer Meals Program. In 2016, 8,200 hungry children at 180 sponsored sites received nearly 270,000 meals thanks to this organization and the generosity of the community.
As a member of this community, Syncfusion is participating in a virtual food drive for this program. Halfway through the drive, we are halfway to our goal.
We’d like to encourage other members of our communities, both geographic and professional, to donate to the cause and help kids stay healthy over the summer.
To donate to our food drive, go here. You can donate cash, or go on a virtual shopping trip and donate specific grocery items the Food Bank needs most.
If you’d prefer to give to your own local food bank, you can find it using Feeding America’s search and see if they are administering a similar program. If you know of a good program, tell us about it in a comment, or on Facebook or Twitter.
